The Greatest Initiation
Source, God, Emptiness, Void, Space, Silence
These are names for the tangible presence (pre sense) which contains all experience - spiritual, mental, emotional and physical. We are absolutely immersed in its ubiquitous embrace, because we are It. However as it is before thought, it cannot be known by the rational mind - only sensed directly as space, silence and openness.
Do you see the space which contains the forms around you? That’s it. Can you perceive the silence which underlies the sounds? That’s it. As you tune into the warm alive feeling of the body, can you feel the sense of formless openness which infuses it? That’s it.
All these examples are really the same Source, but perceived differently through different senses. Ultimately there aren’t even different senses - only a holistic sense of sense which seems to become separated when viewed through the prism of thought.
Do you see how utterly ordinary this Source, spaciousness, openness, silence is? It’s always here, unconditionally allowing all experience without being affected by it. By identifying thought with emotion and the idea of form, we create the illusion that we are something other than we are.
The greatest initiation is conscious surrender to this subtle but tangible sense of space, openness and silence. This means learning to be open in the space, openness and silence ‘within’ and ‘around’ us. I use quotation marks because ‘within’ and ‘around’ are mental conditions which eventually dissolve, as we immerse ourselves in the ubiquitous ocean of spacious, open, silent presence.
I like the Holy Trinity concept because it can be practically applied to our present experience. Simultaneously right now, the Father is spaciousness, openness and silence; the Son is awareness of spaciousness, openness and silence; and the Holy Spirit is all experience.
I am simultaneously Source, Awareness, Experience.
